Earth Day

To celebrate International Earth Day we wanted to share some of the steps we're taking as a brand to create clothing that is kinder to our planet and keep you up to date with our 1% for the Planet progress.
Switching to Organic
Compared to regular cotton, no toxic pesticides or chemicals are used to produce organic cotton (so it doesn't harm the soil) and on average uses 88% less water and 62% less energy.
From AW/21 onwards all Parlez Tees will be manufactured from GOTS Certified 100% organic cotton.
From HW/21 all Parlez Hoodies will be manufactured from GOTS Certified 100% organic cotton.
By SS/22 all Parlez Hoods, Tees and Pullovers will be GOTS Certified 100% organic cotton.
Incorporating Recycled Fabrics
Using pre-existing textiles reduces the need for newly manufactured fibres, saving water, energy and chemicals that contribute to pollution. Recycled fabrics also decrease the amount of waste sent to landfill. We are constantly looking at how we can incorporate more recycled fabrics and components into our collections. Our upcoming seasons feature recycled Fleece, Nylon and Poly across clothes and accessories.
Last year we made a commitment to 1% of the Planet to donate 1% of our annual sales to non-profit environmental organisations. Over the years our collections have been heavily influenced by sailing and there would be no sailing without the ocean, so this year we decided to focus on organisations that work to protect the health of our oceans and the all the wildlife within. Below is an introduction to the organisations we've been able to support so far.
Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. For over thirty years MCS has been the voice for the sea for all the fascinating creatures that live beneath the waves, for our breath-taking coastal environment, for all those who make a sustainable living from the sea and for everyone who simply enjoys visiting the beach and our glorious coastline.
