PARLEZ SESSIONS / JAYDROP

This summer, Parlez is busy joining forces with a selection of DJs, producers and musicians to bring you the Parlez Sessions, a series of mini mixes to soundtrack your summer.
Our latest mix comes from Jaydrop, a respected drum and bass and dubstep producer and DJ, who spends his time in booking management and is a resident DJ for The Blast, one of Bristol's biggest club promo teams.
Get to know the man himself in our interview and hit play!

Thanks for joining us! How long have you been in the music scene and what inspired you to get involved?

I fell in love with dubstep around 2007, and wanted to do music at uni, and Bristol was the best place for music and the emerging scene. I started uni in Bristol in 2010 and started making music then. I then progressed as an artist and became involved with acts i looked up to, which allowed me to release tracks on Doc Scott’s 31 Recordings and have had tracks included in Plastician’s Dubstep Allstars mix on Tempa.

What else do you get up to when you’re not performing?

I’m a booking agent for The Bassic Agency, where I look after international bookings for our roster of acts.

What’s been your career highlight of the year so far?

Glastonbury for sure. It was only my second time there and it such an experience. I was given the opportunity to play on the new Arcadia Pangea stage which was possibly one of the most impressive parts of the weekend.

What should we be listening to right now?

Buunshin - Acolyte (Dub)

Need For Mirrors & DRS - Bobby (31 Recordings)

Deviant - Bring Your Love (The Chikara Project)

Halogenix - Gaslight (Critical Music)

Fonzo & Riko Dan - Bushmaster (Durkle Disco Dub)

When it comes to fashion, would you describe your style and what are your favourite brands (apart from Parlez!) ?

I’m pretty easy going, as long as it comes in black I'll normally wear it. Patta and Carhartt are my go-to brands (especially when they collaborate), they have been a staple in my wardrobe for years and they last forever. For my feet it would have to be Nike or Clarks.
