PARLEZ SESSIONS / JENNY WADE

This summer, Parlez has teamed up with a series of DJs, producers and musicians to bring you the Parlez Sessions, a series of mini mixes to get you right for the week.

This week Parlez welcomes with Jenny Wade. Aside from always bringing the party in her sets and running club nights, Jenny manages a roster of artists over at Black Acre Management. Blimey.

Read our interview with Jenny and listen to her mix below!

Thanks for joining us for Parlez Sessions! What's the vibe you've gone for in your mix?

Thanks for having me! I’ve gone for stuff I like to play on my radio show using my favourite garage / club music / funky edits I like at the moment.

How did you get into the music scene?

I started working in events and bars when I was as uni to help pay the rent. After uni, I got an internship at Futureboogie, a label and booking agency -  which turned into a full-time job, which gave me more time to do my own thing! I started a club night called Sprung alongside DJ Polo, Lobby, Max Knifton and DJRG. We started doing parties quite regularly, bringing our favourite artists to Bristol. I was also part of the Mix Nights team, an 8 week DJ course to promote womxn in the music scene working on their project management. From this I started DJing!

I’m now a day to day manager at Black Acre looking after artists such as Quantic, Alfa Mist, Connie Constance, Romare, Clap! Clap! and Branko. I DJ with Sprung or as myself, and I also have a bi-monthly radio show on Noods Radio which I love as as I get to play more chilled stuff across genres. My show is 3-4pm on a Saturday so I usually play what helps to cure people’s hangovers…

What have you got coming up next?

I’ve got quite a few bookings coming up over the summer in Bristol, including some day parties which I’m looking forward to. We’ve got our fifth Sprung UK Funky Day Party at Blue Mountain in Bristol - (12th July, you should definitely come!!), which I CANNOT WAIT for, it’s always the highlight of my summer. Really happy with our line up this year too - iLL BLU, BASH & T (Julio Bashmore & T.Williams), KG and DJ NAUGHTY!

Any big tunes we should be listening to this summer?

The new Daphni tune 'Sizzling' is such a summer banger! or I really like that new Finn tune called “Do what you want forever”.

If I could pick an album of the summer it would be Tyler The Creator 'IGOR' its so good to listen to as a whole I cant stop listening to it.

Aside from Parlez, what are your favourite brands?

I wear a lot of guys clothes to be honest, always been a bit of a tomboy. I’ve got a lot of Carhartt, can never really go wrong with something from there. Then I like Stüssy, Norse Projects and pretty much anything denim from Weekday.
