California Schemin' T-Shirt White
SHOP NOWInspired by late 90s and early 2000s street, skate, and hip hop culture, the design captures a pivotal moment in the evolution of streetwear, as well as the origins and inspiration behind Parlez itself.
The palm trees symbolize the ambition and dream of making it to California to succeed. The graffiti-style logo evokes the scene and roots of where it all began, complemented by the film’s tagline, which underscores the journey and mindset behind the movement.
The Story Beneath the Surface
Rooted in late 90s and early 2000s street, skate and hip hop culture, the design draws from California Schemin’, a film that captures a defining moment in the evolution of streetwear, and the kind of ambition that shaped Parlez from the start.
Palm trees reflect the pull of California, the idea of heading west, chasing something bigger. The graffiti-style logo nods to the scenes and subcultures the film brings to life, while the line “Get Rich or Try Lying” captures the mindset behind it all ambition, graft, and backing your own path.
How Two Lads from Scotland Conned the Music Industry
California Schemin’ follows two young men from Dundee who reinvent themselves as a Californian rap duo, chasing a version of success they’ve only seen from afar. With adopted accents and invented backstories, they move through the industry unchecked - landing a record deal and stepping into a world they were never meant to access.
But as things build, so does the pressure. What starts as ambition turns into something harder to hold together.
Directed by James McAvoy in his debut behind the camera, the film brings together an emerging cast and a story rooted in identity, intent, and the line between performance and reality.
